Background:
Cawthorne C of E (VC) Primary School is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Cawthorne, in South Yorkshire. In1639, the village grammar school was built and until the 19th century the master lived in the loft over the school. The building still exists today and forms part of the Parish Room. The next building to become a school was what is now known as the Village Hall. During the Victorian period, the older building of the present school was built. The new building was completed in the 1970's. This provided the school with much needed extra space. In 2005 this finally joined together the existing parts of school, by way of a linking corridor, and contains: an ICT Suite and Library, offices for the headteacher and the school business manager and a new cloakroom area. There are variety of opportunities including netball, football, cricket, dance, drama, art and design to enhance the learning.
