Background:

Dating from 1886, the school has recently completed the second of two building projects to add new sections to the original building, as part of a period of 'rapid evolution'. It is situated in the semi-rural village of High Green near Sheffield and serves children from High Green and Chapeltown and the more rural villages surrounding Worley. The school boasts a 'wonderful family atmosphere' and support from parish and parents. Staff see the school as 'an extension of home' and parents are always welcome. The school is 'very keen' to develop the arts and sport, having won the Catholic Cup in Sheffield in 1998. Year 5 and 6 pupils have swimming lessons. A 'wealth' of extra-curricular opportunities includes various sports, folk singing, recorder, guitar, art and French clubs. An 'excellent and very active' Parent Teacher Association organises fundraising and social events, particularly the annual Summer Fayre. A 'millennium covenant with the poor' was recently launched to raise awareness of and funds for local and global charities. 'Our mission is to provide a distinctive Roman Catholic education in partnership with the home, parish and community, founded on the Gospel message of love, respect and prayer'.
