Background:
Opened in April 1967, the school building is a 'clasp' construction and there are eight classrooms in the main building and one mobile classroom. Outdoor facilities include a large playing field and two playgrounds, in addition to lawns, landscaped areas and flower beds. All national curriculum subjects are offered and there are several extra-curricular clubs, including sports, music and chess. Music concerts are staged twice a year and pupils are regularly entered in sports tournaments. The children recently won several individual medals and team trophies at a Rotherham schools swimming gala. Funds are raised for both local and national charities, such as the NSPCC and a Rotherham hospice. There are a number of pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN) and they are supported in mainstream lessons by teaching assistants and provision in overseen by a SEN co-ordinator.
