Background:

Nether Green Junior School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is seven to 11. The school is situated in an attractive residential area and serves a catchment area stretching from the University to the City Boundary. It is very close to the Porter Valley, which offers first class opportunities for environmental studies. The main building is of stone construction, built at the beginning of the last century. There is a large central hall with a stage and library area. The hall is flanked by ten classrooms and an Information Communication Technology room. In the basement of the main building there is also a practical room used for art and craft. This room also has a designated area with cooking facilities. There is a small multipurpose room for group teaching and music. Outside the main building are three more classrooms and a fourth room used for meetings and as a multipurpose area. All indoor physical education takes place in a purpose built and well equipped sports hall. There are two large playgrounds and a useful grassed area with an adventure play trail. It offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, tennis, rounders cross-country and choir.
