Background:
Myrtle Springs School is an 11 to 16 mixed community comprehensive school for day students. It was opened in September 1988 on two sites, at East Bank Road and Gleadless Road. The school moved onto a single site in September 2000. It has excellent facilities with new science laboratories, English rooms, ICT room and a superb library/resource area. There are also specialist rooms for art, business studies, computing, home economics, media studies, music, pottery and textiles. The sports facilities include extensive playing fields, sports hall, swimming pool, a gymnasium, a multi-gym and health and fitness studio. The school offers a full range of interesting and exciting extra-curricular activities. These include art, drama, music, sport and many kinds of leisure activities, trips and visits. It has also successful sports clubs for students of all ages in the following sports: badminton, football, multi-gym, netball, rugby, table tennis, trampolining and rounders. The school aims to provide caring and loving environment.
