King Ecgbert School is a mixed secondary comprehensive school for pupils aged 11-18 maintained by Sheffield local education authority, with Technology College Status. The school has undergone many positive developments. These include more computers in department and subject areas including the use of internet, extended study time in library and computer laboratory, enhanced facilities and vastly improved library resources. The school offers a wide range of Advanced level courses, a small number in collaboration with other local schools. It provides a technology enriched curriculum that includes information technology (IT) lessons in all years, Advanced level IT, IT GCSE in Key Stage 4, European Computer Driving Licence qualification course, vocational courses. There are many enhancement opportunities, which include voluntary work and careers education. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are available. These include drama, music, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, first aid, Community Sports Leader Award, outdoor activities, paired reading, peer monitoring and use of ICT facilities.
