Background:
High Storrs School was established in 1880 as a central school, it was renamed High Storrs in 1933 and moved to its current site in the southwest of the city, as two separate single-sex grammar schools. The school is housed in a Grade II listed building set in 26 acres of grounds on edge of Peak District. There is a large library, drama, dance and music facilities. There are numerous arts clubs and societies. The school provides wide range of extra-curricular activities, which includes: netball, football, rugby and cricket. It became a specialist school in performing arts in 2002. It gained Artsmark Silver in June 2005 and has an English Lead Department. The school aims to provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment with a focus on developing pupils' creativity, self-respect and respect for others.
