Background:

The Hayfield School opened on a Greenfield site in a rural suburban setting to the south east of Doncaster in 1971. It serves the market town of Bantry and a catchment area encompassing the suburbs and commuter villages of southeast Doncaster. The Hayfield occupies well-maintained purpose-built accommodation and grounds, with some temporary classrooms replaced by a new science and art block in 2004. Facilities include extensive playing fields including floodlit synthetic pitches (2004), a gym, sports hall, drama studio, library, a range of dedicated IT rooms and a technology suite. A wide ranging extra-curricular programme covers drama, music, sport, residential field courses, activity clubs and homework club. It operates its own further education and community programme on-site; there is community use of sports facility and 'positive' links to business and industry. Students are involved in charity fundraising and the Hayfield is linked to a school in South Africa. The school holds the following national awards/standards: Training School, Investor in People Status, Charter Mark, Sportsmark, Basic Skills Quality Mark. The school aims to provide a balanced education for all pupils, within the parameters and constraints of the national curriculum.
