Background:

Established in 1961, South Axeholme now caters for around 900 pupils. Occupying a quiet, rural site, this modern, well-appointed school has access to comprehensive facilities across all areas of the curriculum, including a suite of music rooms, a drama studio, specially adapted IT rooms, a learning support suite, and the use of an on-site leisure centre. The school's outdoor games areas occupy some 15 acres and include a floodlit, all-weather surface. Motivated by their strong tradition of achievement in sports and the performing arts, the school is currently bidding for the status of Arts Technology College. South Axeholme places emphasis on raising the achievement of its pupils and has a clearly defined monitoring process to ensure students do not fall below certain 'benchmark' levels. Parents are fully involved in this process and the school has very high expectations of its pupils and takes much pride in their achievements.
