Background:

Situated to the west of Doncaster, the school was created by an amalgamation in 1994. It serves a mixed community of private housing, council housing and housing association properties. The school buildings are modern and it has large playgrounds and a field. The 'broad and balanced' curriculum is taught in a 'friendly and open' atmosphere which supports all pupils, with teachers 'dedicated to raising standards'. One was recently appointed as an advanced skills teacher in maths. Staff enjoy 'a good reputation' for helping children with special educational needs. Extra-curricular activities on offer include football, rounders, kwik cricket, drama and technology. Older children can play in local sporting competitions. Year 5 pupils have a week's residential experience in Robin Hood's Bay. Links with parents and the community are 'very strong' and the 'very active' Friends of Rosedale School group raises money and runs events for the children. Every year, children raised money for a chosen charity in a 'Harvest Appeal'. 'Rosedale School provides a secure and caring environment within which each child is expected and encouraged to achieve personal excellence'.
