Background:
Don Valley is on the northern outskirts of Doncaster serving the areas of Scawthorpe and Bentley. The school is on 'an attractive and a well-maintained site' with 'ample accomodation for around 1,600 pupils'. Currently the school is over-subscribed in years 7, 8 and 9. Buildings include a purpose-built adimistration block and 'extensive' information technology facilities. Extra-curricular activities play an important part in the school; 'no school is complete without a wide range of activities on offer that will extend the experiences of students'. Some of the activities occur at lunchtimes, others after school or at weekends and include drama, music, model making, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and a range of sports including rugby, soccer, hockey, netball, athletics and basketball. 'The school is dedicated to raising achievement'.
