Background:
This is a first purpose-built school opened in the 1800s and replaced by the present building in 1971. A new classroom was built in 2000 to accommodate high demand for places. It has well-maintained grounds with a large sports field. Teaching from first-hand experience and developing creativity is at the heart of the curriculum. Music is highly valued and many instruments are taught and the school is proud of its orchestra. Children are also encouraged to take part in local inter-school sports events with significant success. The school celebrates the high achievements of the children in all areas of the curriculum. It recognises that children have many different talents and every care is taken to encourage them to achieve their full potential. The Christian ethos is at the heart of everyday school life and from their earliest days. Children are encouraged to respect all members of the school community.
