Background:

Firth Park Community College is a mixed comprehensive college, catering for students between the ages of 11 and 16 years. The college has new and refurbished buildings. It offers a wide range of facilities and resources. These include four information technology rooms and networked ICT to all faculty areas, including interactive whiteboards, a library, three music classrooms and three specialist visual arts classrooms. The college has a recording studio, three drama studios and a learning support unit. It also has excellent sports facilities, which include a gymnasium, sports hall, tennis courts, astroturf all-weather pitch, basketball and football pitches. In September 2002 the school gained specialist status in the Performing Arts. Students regularly visit local, regional and national theatres, art galleries and museums. The college offers a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs, which include music, arts, drama, dance, ICT, sports, homework and study skills. There are regular field trips, cultural visits and annual excursions. The college aims to provide a happy, welcoming, caring and cooperative learning environment where all students are valued and encouraged in their learning.
