Background:
The school's main block was built in 1911, and subsequent additions include the hall in 1968 and 'extensive' work in 1990. Shafton has recently refurbished all its classrooms, the staff room and the music room and has also created a secretarial/reception area. 'Almost all' classrooms have a carpeted area, and all have a sink unit and modern furniture. The library is used exclusively as such whereas the music room is also used for television broadcasts and meetings. There is a 'good range' of physical education equipment in the hall.
